When I first arrived at NYU Abu Dhabi, I came without knowing anyone and was a very closed-off person, unsure of where I would fit in. Over time, this place pushed me beyond my comfort zone in ways I never expected. Living away from family, studying across cities like Shanghai and New York, and navigating life in a completely new environment helped me grow more confident and independent.
Along the way, I learned to embrace new cultures, perspectives, and experiences through travel and friendships with people from all over the world. What started as a small circle in freshman year slowly grew into a diverse community of friends I met through classes, campus jobs, and shared adventures across countries. No matter where life takes me, I know I’ll carry these connections and memories with me — reminders that home can exist anywhere in the world.
