Sylvie received her BS in Biotechnology from the University of Paul Sabatier in France in 2004. After her graduation she started working as a Laboratory technician for the French Research Institute for Exploitation of the Sea (IFREMER), she carried out histology and molecular experiments on marine molluscs. Following that, she worked as a Research Assistant at the Technical Institute for food Industry (CTCPA) in Avignon (France) at the microbiology laboratory specialized in detecting and identifying sporulated flora. In 2010 she moved to Saudi Arabia, where she spent 3.5 years at KAUST at the Bioscience Core Laboratory. She was responsible for running DNA/RNA extractions, Real-Time PCR, and library preparation for Next Generation Sequencing. In 2015 she joined CGSB at NYUAD as a Research Technician in the Diversity genomics group at present she works on preparing date palm samples for Next Generation Sequencing, and she is responsible for the efficient running of the laboratory.
