Biomedicine and Health

The CGSB research program uses the UAE’s biodiversity as a natural laboratory to investigate adaptation to extreme environments, aiming to provide the scientific knowledge that develops practical solutions to the challenges posed by climate change. Climate change will result in extreme conditions in the Middle East and North Africa region, posing considerable threats to biodiversity, food security, and human health.

Environmental Adaptation and Sustainability

The UAE and the global human population face numerous challenges to physical and mental wellbeing in the 21st century. This research program brings cutting-edge genomic technology and computational biology to address fundamental questions with neurobiological or mental diseases applications. The program also searches for novel bioactive compounds and natural products that will improve human health by providing candidates for developing new antimicrobials, anthelmintics, and anticancer agents.
