Leadership
Leadership development is important at all stages of the faculty career trajectory. We provide workshops, programs, and materials to support faculty who are already in leadership positions and those who are emerging leaders.

This three-part series examines the role of Inclusive Leadership in achieving inclusion and belonging within the work environment to enhance work outcomes, communication, and innovation. Faculty members with leadership roles and supervisory responsibilities develop strategies and practical skills for increasing inclusiveness within their work settings. Intercultural fluency is a foundation of Inclusive Leadership at NYUAD, and this program integrates principles from the Intercultural Learning Program (ICLP), a series developed for members of the NYUAD community.
The initiative was offered to NYUAD current and aspiring faculty leaders in January 2020 over the course of a week and consisted of three interactive sessions.
NYU Women's Leadership Forum
The NYU Women's Leadership Forum concept originated in 2005 when national attention put the role, function, and challenges facing women in the academy into the spotlight. The objective of the NYU Women's Leadership Forum is to foster leadership development, facilitate professional growth, and sponsor opportunities for outreach among women in leadership roles. It is expected that these efforts will create new and exciting ways for women at NYU to take part in the vibrant life of the University. Through professional and personal networking, access to electronic resources and materials, and participation in an array of events such as conferences, guest presentations, and opportunities for professional development, women can exchange information and interact with others who have common interests and goals.
In 2018, the NYUAD chapter of the Women’s Leadership Forum was established by Carol Brandt, Vice Provost and Associate Vice Chancellor, Global Education and Outreach and Kirsten Sadler Edepli, Vice Provost for Faculty Advancement and Engagement and in 2019, Theresa Powell, Deputy Chief Human Resources Officer, Employee Relations, Learning and Engagement joined the NYUAD steering committee. The NYUAD Women’s Leadership Forum hosts events throughout the academic year, including celebration of International Women’s Day, a speaker series and networking events. This forum ran at NYUAD through 2018-2020 and has evolved into a university wide initiative.
