Thaddeus Stegall

Thaddeus Stegall is an Instructor of Music and Producer at NYU Abu Dhabi. He is an artist, coach, and educator.

As a young musician, Thaddeus’ musical journey began with playing gospel music in church. While continuing with gospel music, Thaddeus participated in the marching band in high school and continued through college. In 2014, he graduated magna cum laude from Florida A&M University (FAMU) with a BS in Music Education. While at FAMU, Thaddeus served as president of the FAMU Chapter of the National Association for Music Education and a drum major in the world-renowned FAMU “Marching 100” Band.

After graduating from FAMU, Thaddeus shifted his focus to hone his leadership skills and cultivate his passion for higher education. In 2016, he graduated from Michigan State University with a MA in Student Affairs Administration and a Graduate Certificate in Urban Education. While at MSU and continuing to the present, Thaddeus has been quite active as a scholar and practitioner. He has published a book chapter and an article on Higher Education and Student Affairs, presented at multiple international higher education conferences (NASPA and ACPA), and given talks at both TEDxMSU and TEDxNYUAD in 2016 and 2018 respectively.

Before joining NYUAD, Thaddeus served as On-Site Director for the Duke Talent Identification Program at Duke Kunshan University. As a member of the academic support team, Thaddeus oversees the production of events and performances hosted by the Music Program, working in coordination with the Music Program Leadership, Faculty, Academic Support Team, the Arts Center staff, students, vendors, and other external parties. Thaddeus is active at NYU Abu Dhabi as a trainer/facilitator and coach.

Thaddeus’ teaching and research interests include leadership, student develop and success, global education, intercultural competency, and the Black/African-American family. His artistic interests include gospel music, R&B music, poetry, and design.
