Jesse Boere is Instructor of Music at NYU Abu Dhabi. He is best described as a singer, songwriter, and downright music lover who both makes music and fights for its rightful place in society. He received his bachelor’s degree in jazz performance studies from Codarts University for the Arts, studying singing and songwriting. In 2014, at its campus in Valencia, Spain, he graduated magna cum laude from Berklee College of Music with a project researching the Big Five American songwriters and their Tin Pan Alley composition style. He pursued further studies at SOAS University of London where he obtained a Master of Science with Distinction in Global Public Policy.
Boere released a record entitled Nothing Is the Same (2015) under the pseudonym Jesse Bell. Other releases include No Time To Waste (2022) and Going Down (2024). He regularly performs with Jazz.Diwan, a quartet celebrating jazz in the Khaleej.
Boere has also been very active in the field of (international) cultural politics, with author's rights and music education in schools being of particular interest to him. He served as a youth advisor for the Dutch Arts Council in 2015, presided as president of the Netherlands Student Chamber Choir from 2011-2013, led the youth movement of the European Choral Association from 2013-2015 and was member of the Executive Board of the International Music Council, NGO official partner of UNESCO (associate status) from 2014-2019.
