Claire Whitenack is a writing instructor with research interests in the early history of medicine and medieval literature, particularly the use of medical language in Anglo-Saxon recipe-books, penitential texts, and poetry. She is currently researching the social context of a cholera outbreak in the nineteenth century American South.
