Asma graduated from Asian University for Women (AUW) with a major in Asian Studies and minor in Development Studies. Her senior thesis, which she also presented at a Liberal Arts International conference in Doha, Qatar, discussed the prospects of employability for madrassa graduates in Pakistan due to madrassa curriculum and society’s misconceptions. As an undergraduate, she worked as a teaching assistant for a writing intensive literature course. Following her graduation, she taught Pakistan Studies of Cambridge O Level at The City School, Bahawalpur, Pakistan for a year before moving to NYUAD as a Global Academic Fellow (GAF) in 2015. Besides working in the Writing Center and with First Year Writing Seminars (FYWS), she is piloting the project of Exit 11, the FYWS journal.
