Soha Sarkis is a Lecturer of Writing at NYU Abu Dhabi, and a historian of slavery in the French colonial empire in the nineteenth century. Her research interests include enslavement, emancipation, missionaries, charity work, and social reform in the metropole and the colonies. Before joining NYU, she studied and taught European, Middle Eastern, and North African history at Georgetown and the American University of Beirut.
