Susan Burke completed her BSc in Physics and Chemistry Education in 2010 and immediately embarked on her teaching career in Limerick, Ireland. While teaching full time she completed a Professional Diploma in Mathematics for Teaching in 2014. Susan joined the Physics Department at NYU Abu Dhabi in 2015 as a Physics Instructor. She has since received her MSc in Astrophysics from Liverpool John Moores University where she carried out research on aging stellar clusters using isochrone fitting techniques.
Susan is passionate about Physics Education and promoting physics among young people, particularly young women. She has worked closely with the outreach department and the WeSTEM (Women in STEM) student interest group to deliver numerous exciting Physics workshops for young people throughout her time at NYU Abu Dhabi. She is an active member of the American Association of Physics teachers and PICUP (Partnership for Integrating Computation into Undergraduate Physics).
