Catherine Lukan has over 12 years of international teaching experience with a focus on Psychology, with a BEd from the University of Regina and a MSc of Psychology from the University of Liverpool. She is interested in research regarding sociocultural impacts on cognition and behavior, (peri)menopause impacts on emotion, cognition, and career growth, gender norms, and sports psychology and motivation. During her Master's degree, she conducted qualitative interviews with Canadian perimenopausal women to establish both protective and negative factors impacting their quality of life during this menopausal transition. She is extremely interested in assisting with projects that explore this understudied area of women's physical health and psychological development.
Outside of this, she is a former Division 1 soccer/football player in Canada's U-Sport (formerly CIS) university league and has spent the last 6 years volunteering with football programs that focus on increasing access for female athletes in both Oman and the UAE. She is also an avid hiker, runner, and surfer and spends her time exploring wadis and beaches throughout the region.
