Assel Al-Bayati is a cognitive psychologist with a research interest in executive functions, brain-behavior relationships, and the dissemination of health information through community-based science. She holds a Master’s degree in Psychology with a specialization in Brain, Behavior, and Cognitive Sciences, as well as a Graduate Diploma in Neuroscience from York University in Toronto, Canada. Al-Bayati is currently an Associate Instructor of Psychology at NYUAD, where she teaches a wide-range of psychology courses including Biopsychology, Statistics for Psychology, and Special Topics in Psychology.
Al-Bayati also works as a Research Coordinator in Canada on the"Our Kids' Health Network" — a social media-based health initiative co-designed with community partners to deliver free, culturally-relevant, and evidence-based parenting resources to marginalized families in 10 different languages. The initiative aims to foster trust, support parenting competence, and improve child wellness through virtual community-building and healthcare-provider partnerships.
When she’s not teaching or working on research, Al-Bayati enjoys exploring new cities, sketching on her iPad, and curating psychology content for Arabic-speaking families through social media.
