Karam Fayad received his PhD degree from Sorbonne Université (Université Paris 6, 2015).
Before joining NYUAD in fall 2020, he taught in France at CY Tech, previously EISTI Engineering School (Paris, 2015-2020), the Euro-American campus of Sciences Po (Reims, 2015-2020), and Sorbonne Université (Paris, 2011-2015).
His PhD research focused on proving several abstract criteria for semisimplicity of representations of profinite groups, with applications to Shimura varieties.
