Alessandro Portaluri
Visiting Professor of Mathematics
Affiliation: Visiting
Education: Laurea degree University of Pisa; PhD University of Genova
Research Areas: Maslov index, spectral flow, N-body problem, N-vortex problem
Alessandro Portaluri received a Laurea in Matematica from the Università di Pisa; a PhD in Matematica e Applicazioni from the Università di Genova; and did postdoc work at Università di Milano-Bicocca.
Portaluri is interested in developing an index theory for regular and singular differential operators through spectral flow formulae. His main focus is to detect stability and instability for (quasi) periodic motions of vortex cristals for the N-vortex problem and relative equilibria in the N-body problem through variational indices. He also works on ecological and population dynamical modeling
