Center for Research Computing
Research Computing consists of the infrastructure, applications, expert staff, policies, and other resources required to support computational and data-intensive activities related to research.
The New York University Abu Dhabi (NYUAD) Center for Research Computing serves NYUAD’s researchers, faculty, and students by providing High-Performance Computing (HPC), Data Science and AI, and Bioinformatics services and support, enabling them to conduct world-class, innovative computational research and education.
In alignment with NYU Abu Dhabi’s vision of becoming one of the world’s great research universities, we will push the boundaries of computational research and become a world-class Center for Research Computing.

Governance
The Center for Research Computing at NYUAD is governed by a 2-tier governing body consisting of:
- An Executive Board that provides oversight and guidance
- A Steering Committee that oversees all Center for Research Computing services at NYUAD and represents the users
Services
The Center for Research Computing provides expert support through three specialized sub-teams:
- HPC User Support: User requests, application support, and account management
- System Management: Resource monitoring, tuning, and HPC system administration
- Data and Storage: Data storage, archiving, recovery, and high-speed data transfer.
- Technical Support: Coding optimization, debugging, and parallelization
- Infrastructure: Co-location (hosting) services, managed servers, and network storage
The Data Science and AI team partners with researchers to design, build, and scale AI-enabled research across the full project lifecycle.
- AI and Machine Learning: Deep learning, computer vision, NLP, and generative AI workflows
- Research Analytics: Statistical modeling, causal analysis, and customized analytical workflows
- Scalable Computing: Big data processing, GPU-enabled workflows, and cluster-ready pipelines
- Software and Visualization: Reproducible research software, Python/R optimization, and interactive data storytelling
- Training Portfolio: Foundational and advanced courses in ML, AI, and HPC for Data Science
The Bioinformatics Core provides computational infrastructure and services for sequence analysis to support multidisciplinary research.
- Sequence Analysis: Resequencing, structural variation, and de novo genome/transcriptome assembly
- Advanced Omics: Single Cell RNAseq expression analysis and epigenetic analysis
- Metagenomics: 16s/18s analysis and metagenomic assembly
- Custom Solutions: Development of analytical pipelines, new tools, and resources for genomics datasets
- Consultation: Expert scientific advice and bioinformatics training programs
