Critically acclaimed book by Deepak Unnikrishnan wins prestigious literary award

Foreign nationals constitute over 80 percent of the UAE population. Deepak Unnikrishnan’s award-winning debut novel Temporary People delves into the histories, myths, struggles, and triumphs of expat workers through a compelling collection of fictional stories and poems.

The book won the Hindu Prize and Restless Books Prize for New Immigrant Writing, and was critically-acclaimed in The New Yorker, The New York Times Book Review, Washington Post, The Times Literary Supplement, and others.

Unnikrishnan is a lecturer in the Writing Program at NYU Abu Dhabi.
