Nikos Karathanasopoulos is interested in the mechanics and design of advanced materials and structures. He has a master's in Structural Engineering, Mechanics, and Materials from UC Berkeley and a PhD from ETH Zürich in Switzerland.
His research interests include the analysis, simulation, and design of helical structures, the development of advanced materials commonly known as "metamaterials" with extra-ordinary mechanical and functional attributes, as well as the use of artificial intelligence in engineering. His research has received support from private and public European organizations, including the Novartis Research Institute and the Marie Sklodowska-Curie actions.
