Applied Computational Engineering Lab

The Applied Computational Engineering (ACE) Lab focuses on the analysis, development, and modeling of advanced materials and structures for a wide range of engineering applications, through the combination of experimental, numerical and machine learning techniques.

The Applied Computational Engineering Lab (ACE):

  • Investigates the additive manufacturing and mechanical performance of advanced architected materials (metamaterials) and metastructures that are based on polymers, ceramics, as well as different metallic alloys.
  • Develops experimentally calibrated computational models that characterize their static, strain-rate, fatigue and dynamic vibration performance.
  • Elaborates machine learning techniques for the modeling, feature importance assessment and interpretability of the observed phenomena.
