Community Support

The Office of Global Access and Engagement (OGAE) takes tailored approaches with community members to foster access, engagement, belonging, and equal opportunity to participate and flourish across the University community.

Faculty Engagement Liaisons

In fall 2021, the Office of Global Access and Engagement, in collaboration with the Provost’s Office, launched the Faculty Engagement Liaison initiative within each academic division, and Stern at NYUAD, to enhance access and engagement within their respective divisions and contribute to fostering these values on an institutional level.

Academic Year 2025-2026

Liaison Responsibilities

  • Assist the division with strategies that support the University's commitment to building and strengthening a culture of access, engagement, and belonging.
  • Collaborate and meet monthly with the Office of Global Access and Engagement to recommend and execute academic programming and embed strategies for equal opportunity within the divisions.
  • Oversee the implementation of fair and transparent academic search practices and support peer participation in search committee workshops.
  • Work in close partnership with the Office of the Provost and the OGAE regarding progress and challenges in relation to belonging within their divisions.
  • Participate in the selection committee for the Fund for Access and Innovation.
  • Provide periodic reviews and reports to their respective divisional dean.

Staff

Our Approach

  • Support staff professional development with Human Resources teams such as, Learning and Organizational Development and Human Resources Business Partners.
  • Develop staff capacity and skills through initiatives such as the Intercultural Development Inventory and Community Engagement Partners.
  • Reinforce principles of shared governance represented by an elected Staff Council Belonging Chair to ensure the staff voice is heard in all conversations around institutional policy and governance.
  • Raise awareness and build shared language regarding access and belonging through orientation sessions and workshops.

Community Engagement Partners

The Community Engagement Partners model at NYU Abu Dhabi builds internal capacity by ensuring that every unit and division has the tools, resources, and access needed to stay informed and responsive to evolving practices in access, engagement, belonging, and inclusion across the global higher education landscape. 

Community Engagement Partner Responsibilities

  • Liaise with their respective unit leaders to foster belonging in their units by providing access and community-building resources.
  • Attend capacity-building sessions hosted by the Office of Global Access and Engagement that develop practical skills that foster inclusion.
  • Lead and/or support with designing programming within their units to foster belonging.
  • Serve as a liaison between their respective unit and the Office of Global Access and Engagement.
