The Arts Center at NYU Abu Dhabi (NYUAD) welcomes Italian performance group Compagnia TPO for its UAE debut on September 28, with tickets now on sale for its vibrant family show, Farfalle.
Farfalle is a production that sees two dancers explore the metamorphosis of a chrysalis into a butterfly in an interactive digital audio/video environment. As they engage with the space around them – as well as audience members – audiences can expect to experience play, vivid lighting, sound, and more.
Taking place in The Black Box – an intimate space ideal for such a performance –Farfalle will show its brilliance through pioneering, interactive performance media that merges with multi-disciplinary performance techniques such as music, dance, sculpture, and computer technology.
Francesco Gandi and Davide Venturini, the artistic directors of the show, will see their UAE debut performed 18 times through September and October, including invited performances for school groups and children with special needs. Bill Bragin, executive artistic director at The Arts Center at NYUAD, is delighted to include them as part of the impressive Season 3 line-up: “The Arts Center has seen a tremendous response to our programming for kids and their families. We scheduled multiple performances over two long weekends, so that we can really reach the UAE community. Compagnia TPO’s Farfalle builds on the recent success of another dance in a digital environment project, PIXEL, to show how the arts and cutting edge technology are in constant conversation to create new approaches to the performing arts. The piece also continues The Arts Center’s focus on art with an environmental theme, this time aimed at young audiences.”
The Arts Center at NYUAD is an internationally renowned performing arts center that presents distinguished professional artists from around the world alongside student, faculty, and community productions.
