Spring Global Healthcare Immersion Program

The Global Healthcare Immersion Program offers NYU undergraduate students interested in healthcare, medicine, nursing, and the health professions a unique spring-semester opportunity to explore the UAE’s rapidly evolving healthcare system. Based at NYU Abu Dhabi and Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi, this program combines academic enrichment with hands-on clinical experience.

Students will gain valuable insights into regional healthcare practices, healthcare delivery models, and cross-cultural approaches to patient care — broadening their global perspective and preparing them to lead in an interconnected world.

Eligibility

This program is exclusively for NYU students who have selected NYUAD as their spring study away site. Students will apply for this program during their semester at NYUAD.

Osemudiame Kingsley-Odia, an NYU Tandon visiting student at NYU Abu Dhabi, participated in a medical shadowing program in Abu Dhabi and conducted research on campus.

Program Objectives

  1. Provide students with first-hand exposure to the UAE’s dynamic healthcare ecosystem.
  2. Create opportunities for dialogue between students and regional healthcare leaders, healthcare professionals, doctors, and health regulators.
  3. Enable students to critically compare global healthcare practices, healthcare systems, and patient care strategies.

Passport Program

As part of an exclusively designed Passport Program, students will train in one or both specialized pathways, Stroke and STEMI. Both the Stroke and STEMI pathways will feature a coordinator who will explain their role and highlight the critical time benchmarks from symptom onset to intervention.

In addition, students will have the opportunity to tour the Cath Lab or see firsthand where these life-saving interventions/procedures take place.

Each pathway runs for approximately 3.5 hours, focusing on the skills below.
