NYUAD PhD Pathways Program

Program Philosophy

A first of its kind in the UAE, NYUAD’s PhD Pathways Program aims to address the challenge of underrepresentation of Emirati PhDs and professors in higher education, through enhanced and early access to research experience, mentorship, skill acquisition, exploration of research careers, and graduate school preparation. The NYUAD PhD Pathway Program is currently open only to NYUAD students.

I am really passionate about teaching students and guiding them towards making gradual discoveries about the social world.

Luca Maria Pesando, Associate Professor of Social Research and Public Policy

When picking a PhD program, students should make sure that there are people at the department whose interests overlap. It is important to have a senior researcher around who can advise you on which topics of research are interesting and feasible within your chosen field of interest.

Veda Narasimhan, Assistant Professor of Economics

Look for a program where faculty research aligns with your passions, and make sure the advisor’s mentoring style suits your needs. Finding a collaborative and supportive environment is key for long-term success and personal growth.
