Tuka Alhanai is an engineer, scientist, and researcher working at the interface of human and computational machinery. She develops systems that quantify subjective elements of the human experience such as the characteristics of a group of people that form a successful team; the elements of an idea that lead to a hit in the marketplace; and how the crowd decides individual competence from just a profile image.
Her work has been featured in major publications such as The Wall Street Journal, and Wired, and she frequently publishes at top-tier research venues (AAAI, ACL, IEEE). Alhanai has been the recipient of the MIT Technology Review's 10 Innovators Under 35 MENA Award (2018) as well as the UAE Government Excellence Award (2019).
