The Office of Academic Affairs facilitates the planning, assessment and official recognition of the institution and its academic programs through the maintenance of official academic records, and the analysis and presentation of this data to various internal and external stakeholders, including accrediting bodies in the US and the UAE.
The Office is led by the Vice Provost for Institutional Research, Assessment and Academic Affairs, and is supported by personnel working in the areas of Student Registration and Administration, Accreditation, Institutional Research and Academic Affairs.
Vice Provost Charles (Chuck) Grim brings more than 35 years of experience as an economics faculty member and university administrator to the Office of Academic Affairs. Having previously held a similar administrative position at the American University in Bulgaria (AUBG) and having headed Oberlin College’s international admissions efforts, Chuck brings a wealth of experience in international education to NYU Abu Dhabi.
In previous roles Chuck has been instrumental in developing NYUAD’s academic policies, having arrived in 2010 months before the first cohort of students. He has overseen the development of the Registrar’s Office, the Office of Institutional Research, and the University mentoring program. He coordinates the institution’s accreditation efforts, having previously supported those same functions at AUBG.
With a PhD in Economics from Purdue University, Chuck has taught at some of America’s best liberal arts colleges: Oberlin, Colby, and Hamilton among others.
