Academic Strategy

The Office of Academic Strategy is responsible for driving the planning, implementation and ongoing maintenance of NYUAD’s Academic Strategy. It also has stewardship of NYUAD’s Academic Plan which operationalizes NYUAD’s Academic Strategy.

It is responsible for the overarching governance structure of the Academic Strategy; its creation, development, and subsequent implementation and effectiveness. 

The Office of Academic Strategy supports and drives advanced strategic thinking with regard to the four high-level goals to clarify intermediate- and longer-term priorities and initiatives as well as continuing academic planning in conjunction with the key drivers that numerically represent the scope and range of what NYUAD will become.

Alexandra Sumner

Alexandra Sumner is responsible for driving the planning, implementation and ongoing maintenance of NYUAD’s academic strategy. Alex is the overall steward of NYUAD’s Academic Plan which operationalizes NYUAD’s Academic Strategy.

Alex joined NYUAD in October 2021 from the University of Adelaide, Australia, where she was responsible for the design, implementation and delivery of projects and initiatives as part of the University's 10 year Strategic Plan. 

Alex has 20 years experience in business analysis, project and people management and university administration. She has a proven track record of successful implementation of programs and strategic plans involving organizational change and multiple systems within the education, not-for-profit, and corporate sectors.
