Sachin Valera is a postdoctoral researcher at the Centre for Quantum and Topological Systems (CQTS), attached to the Mathematics Department at NYU Abu Dhabi. His research interests lie at the interface between quantum theory and mathematics. He is particularly interested in connections to quantum information and low-dimensional topology.
Before joining CQTS, he was a doctoral student at the University of Bergen in Norway. During his time there, he held lecturing positions for courses on Information Theory and Quantum Computing. He defended his thesis, "Topological Quantum and Skein-Theoretic Aspects of Braided Fusion Categories" at the end of August 2021.
