Grigorios Giotopoulos

Postdoctoral Associate Affiliation: NYU Abu Dhabi
Education: BSc University of Edinburgh; MASt University of Cambridge; PhD Heriot-Watt University

Research Areas: Mathematical Physics; Geometrical and Topological Aspects of Physics; Homotopy Theory; Category Theory.

Grigorios was born and grew up in Athens, Greece. He graduated with a BSc in Mathematics and Physics from the University of Edinburgh in 2016, with a dissertation on the geometrical formulation of gauge theories. He then went on to complete Part III of the Mathematical Tripos at the University of Cambridge, focusing on mathematical aspects of (quantum) field theories. He conducted his PhD research at Heriot-Watt University, under the supervision of Professor Richard Szabo, and defended his thesis ''Braided Homotopy Lie algebras, Noncommutative Field Theory and Gravity'' in August 2021.

Grigorios is currently a Post-Doctoral associate under the guidance of Professor Hisham Sati. His research now focuses on applications of rational homotopy theory to String/M-theory and, in parallel, the formulation of classical and quantum field theoretical concepts in terms of the (higher) topos of super smooth sets.
