After finishing his last high school examination paper, Thomas-Roy Duhamel did not feel like he was not ready to embark on his university journey just yet. A discussion with his father led to the decision to take a gap year to gain more life experiences.
From training in muay thai in Thailand to summiting Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania on his 18th birthday, the past year has seen Duhamel challenging his comfort zone and gaining new knowledge through his endeavors. With a keen interest in volunteering Duhamel also helped build a kitchen for a school while in Tanzania. During his time in Romania, the NYU Abu Dhabi Class of 2027 helped create content for an orphanage to increase their outreach.
The gap year had opened up his perspectives about the world. With it now done and dusted, Duhamel looks forward to the next phase of his growth at NYUAD with his peers.
The major Duhamel is most interested in pursuing is Business, Organizations and Society major and he cannot wait to explore minors such as psychology and computer science.
