Dear First-Year Students

“Embrace the growth you are experiencing these four years" is one of many advices seniors from the Class of 2020 gave.

As NYU Abu Dhabi Class of 2024 prepares for their first semester of college, graduated seniors shared some advice they would like to pass on.

Ignite Your Passion

College is the time to take the classes you have always been interested in. Put your passion first before picking a major.

Run your own race, don't conform, and pursue your passion. It’s always worth it.

Listen to your heart and discover what you want... don't let other voices take over your passions.

Your Mental Health is Important

Take care of yourself first, so you can take on bigger challenges later. When things seem difficult at the moment, know that it will work out in the end.

Be kind to yourself.

Talk to each other about your experiences. If you're struggling with some particular aspect of university life, someone else probably is too. Don't struggle alone.

Enjoy the present, rather than stress about the future. Time passes too quickly.

Get Uncomfortable

Embrace the unknown and take on new journeys — you may just find what you were looking for, or realize what you are capable of achieving.

Don't stop yourself from doing something just because you're scared.

Never be afraid to speak up for what you believe in, even if it's not the voice of the majority.

Do not be afraid to try things you are not good at.
