Over 100 Riders Join NYU Abu Dhabi’s Inaugural Ride for Zayed Community Cycling Event
Press Release
In line with the Year of Zayed celebrations across the UAE, NYU Abu Dhabi (NYUAD) organized the first Ride for Zayed community cycling event. Held on Friday December 14 at the cycle track at Al Hudayriat Island, the event commemorated 100 years since the birth of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, the Founding Father of the UAE.
The inaugural event attracted over 100 community members of all ages from NYUAD and the broader Abu Dhabi community. Riders were invited to complete 10 laps of the 10 km track, for 100km total, with options to complete smaller distances, including a 5km track for children and families.
Yas Cycles were on hand to provide bikes to participants, and the riders were given free Ride for Zayed t-shirts and sunglasses to commemorate the event.
Following the success of the inaugural ride, NYUAD intends to host the event each year as a legacy event, next year encouraging riders to complete 101 kilometers, 102 kilometers the following year, and so on, commemorating the late Sheikh Zayed, and supporting UAE residents to lead an active, healthy lifestyle.
