The NYUAD Library welcomes visits from high schools in Abu Dhabi. A scheduled visit to the NYUAD Library gives students the unique opportunity to utilize the library's rich collection of print and electronic resources.
The library encourages student groups working on advanced-level research projects, such as the IB Extended Essay, to attend a personalized library workshop followed by hands on research time.
NYUAD librarians collaborate with teachers and school administrators to create active and engaging library workshops. Library instruction efforts focus on teaching the basics of academic research such as, locating sources, identifying scholarly sources, and citation management.
Preparing Your Students
A visit to the NYUAD Library is most successful when students are doing research for a real assignment. Working towards a common research goal helps students stay motivated and make the most of their library experience. NYUAD librarians are happy to tailor the session to best meet the individual needs of your students and their assignment.
Planning Your Visit
In order to best meet your needs and maximize your experience, we encourage all high school groups to follow the steps below when planning their trip:
- Please email the NYUAD Library three weeks in advance of your scheduled visit. All requests can be sent via email to nyuad.library@nyu.edu.
- Share class learning objectives and assignment descriptions with NYUAD librarians in order to design engaging and thought-provoking library workshops that meet your students needs. All workshops should last no more than 2.5 hours.
- Ensure every ten students are accompanied by one school official such as a teacher, librarian, or administrator. No more than 40 students can attend one scheduled session.
