NYU Brightspace

The Transition to NYU Brightspace

NYU Classes has been replaced by NYU Brightspace and starting in the fall 2021 semester, all instruction will be on NYU Brightspace. NYU Classes will not be available for course site creation.

Take time to familiarize yourself with NYU Brightspace.

Please contact us at nyuad.academictech@nyu.edu with any concerns or questions about Brightspace.

NYU Brightspace is the university’s new learning management system, providing access to course material, embedded course videos, class-related announcements, and more.

Get the Most Out of NYU Brightspace

  • What is NYU Brightspace?

The NYU Brightspace online learning management system enables NYU faculty to use the web to enhance classroom instruction. Instructors can use NYU Brightspace to:

    • Create full-featured, online course environments for the members of their class to share course readings and lectures.
    • Distribute and collect assignments.
    • Generate a virtual class discussion, and more.

NYU Brightspace is the same tool used by NYU faculty across global NYU locations, so you can share content across your course sites, regardless of where they’ve been taught.

When to Activate NYU Brightspace Sites

Generally, NYU Brightspace sites are available for activation approximately two weeks after semester registration. The time frames below provide a general guideline around course site availability. Once faculty are able to activate their NYU Brightspace sites for the upcoming term, announcements will be posted in the NYUAD Intranet and the Faculty Gazette email newsletter.

    Personalized Help with NYU Brightspace

We offer multiple self-help resources and tutorials to get you started with using NYU Brightspace. Additionally, academic technologists are available to work with you individually to set up your course sites and customize them to your curricular needs. You may also schedule an appointment with the team at the Center for Academic Technology.

The NYUAD Library can assist faculty with adding library materials to their NYU Brightspace course site. Services include:

    • Linking any e-content available within the NYU Library collections — database content, journal articles, ebooks, and more.
    • Scanning and uploading NYUAD Library books.

Please request assistance two months prior to the beginning of the semester to ensure availability of content. Please note NYU'S policy, based on Fair Use Copyright Law, dictates that no more than 15 percent of a book be scanned and uploaded to NYU Brightspace. Selections that exceed that limit can be placed on Course Reserve upon request.
