Tahir Ayoola Brimmo

PhD Candidate in Mechanical Engineering Affiliation: NYU Abu Dhabi
Education: MSc, Masdar Institute (MIT Collaboration); BSc, University of Lagos

Ayoola is a scientist and social entrepreneur. He is a co-founder of Cycled Technologies and is earning his PhD at the Mechanical Engineering Department of the Tandon School of Engineering, NYU New York. He is also a Global PhD Fellow at the Engineering Division of NYU Abu Dhabi.

Ayoola's research focuses on developing biomedical devices operating under the open microfluidic “lab on tip” concept. Using the 3D printing fabrication technique, his research has demonstrated an inexpensive and efficient method of developing Microfluidic Probes (MFPs) for selective isolation and stimulation of cancer cells. This technology is currently being developed as a potential point of care diagnostics tool with applications in cancer treatment, in vitro fertilization, gene therapy, and tissue engineering.
