Trellace Lawrimore earned her Phd in Politics from New York University, where she studied American politics and historical political economy. Her dissertation and book project, How Elites Maintained Power in the Antebellum South, investigates how Southern enslavers leveraged private and public resources to repress enslaved Americans. Her research relies on novel historical data and formal theory.
Lawrimore was a fellow in the Global Political Economy Program at Georgetown University in the 2022-2023 academic year, and she was a Presidential Fellow at the Social Science Research Council in 2023. Lawrimore studied International Political Economy and Arabic at Georgetown University, from which she received her Bachelor of Science.
