Gian Francesco Giudice is a Visiting Distinguished Research Professor of Physics at NYU Abu Dhabi. He graduated from the University of Padua and earned a PhD in Theoretical Physics from the International School for Advanced Studies in Trieste, where he studied under the supervision of Riccardo Barbieri.
Giudice’s research focuses on developing new theories that extend our current understanding of particle physics to smaller distances. He also explores how these theories can be applied to cosmology to describe the early stages of the universe's history. His most notable contributions lie in the areas of supersymmetry, extra dimensions, electroweak physics, collider physics, and dark matter. He has authored two popular science books: A Zeptospace Odyssey and Before the Big Bang.
He held positions as Research Associate at the Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory, Research Fellow at the University of Texas at Austin in the group led by Steven Weinberg, and Senior Research Staff Member at CERN, where he was the Head of the Theoretical Physics Department for ten years. Giudice is a member of several prestigious academies and has received numerous accolades, including the Jacques Solvay Chair in Physics, Distinguished Visiting Research Chair at the Perimeter Institute, Sackler Distinguished Lecturer, Chandrasekhar Lecturer, and Erwin Schrödinger Professor at the University of Vienna.
