Sherine Tohamy is the first girl to graduate as a female oud soloist from Bait Al Oud, Egypt (with distinction), and the third graduate overall, to later become a professor there since 2002. She joined later the teaching team as a professor at Bait Al Oud in the UAE and New York University Abu Dhabi. She also holds a BA in French Mass Communication from Cairo University and is a former director on Egyptian television.

Tohamy released four of her own music albums. She has participated in many concerts, festivals (Oud Festival in Malaysia 2012, International Cairo Oud Forum 2010, Global Oud Forum Abu Dhabi 2021, International Oud Festival in Khartoum 2015, International Oud Festival Tetouan 2017 and 2023), and artistic workshops around the world (Japan, China, England, France, Morocco, Bahrain, Qatar, Lebanon, India, and Germany), performing alone or with international and Arab bands. In 2011, she founded the first female musical group of its kind in the Arab world — Najmat.

Sherine has seen many male and female students of different nationalities graduate under her supervision, whether at Bait Al Oud, Cairo, or Abu Dhabi, and some of them have now become professors of the oud.
