Office of Sustainability and Stewardship

The Office of Sustainability and Stewardship was created to transform NYU Abu Dhabi into one of the region’s leading campuses in sustainability by partnering in the university-wide effort to build a healthier and more sustainable future. We aim to contribute solutions to the climate crisis through engagement, research, and academic excellence in the field of sustainability and minimize NYUAD’s impact on the environment through a comprehensive road map on carbon, energy, water, construction, waste, and transportation. To this end we are working to standardize, adopt and tailor strategies, targets and initiatives that will enable NYUAD to realize this vision in the years to come. Most critically, the Office of Sustainability and Stewardship is responsible for developing and maintaining NYU Abu Dhabi’s strategic climate action plan to include long-term and short-term goals, and related planned activities to reduce our carbon emissions.

The Office works with academic divisions to support sustainability teaching and learning; with the community to raise awareness around sustainability through events; with NYU's Office of Sustainability in New York to ensure adaptation of relevant common sustainability initiatives and strengthen relationships across all NYU campuses; and with campus partners in energy engineering, operations, construction management, procurement, campus services, and more.
