Eric Hamilton serves as the Associate Vice Chancellor and Chief of Staff in the Office of the Vice Chancellor.

The Associate Vice Chancellor and Chief of Staff acts as the principal aide and advisor to the Vice Chancellor, and assists the Vice Chancellor with collaborating and communicating across NYUAD’s diverse community and leadership team, with key offices at NYU NY, and with Abu Dhabi partners and community stakeholders. The role also oversees the offices of Environmental Health and Safety, Equal Opportunity, Government Relations, Inclusion and Equity, Protocol and Partnerships, Shared Governance, and Sustainability and Stewardship. Through these areas, Eric provides strategic leadership on key NYUAD priorities and helps create a community and workplace that is inclusive, safe, collaborative, and transparent.

Eric holds a PhD in Politics and International Relations from the University of Southern California and an MA in Security Studies from Georgetown University, and has been a faculty member in the Social Science division since joining NYUAD in 2016. His research and teaching interests focus on international relations theory, international security, and US foreign and national security policy.

During his time at NYU Abu Dhabi, Eric has been a leader and institution builder, having served as Chair of the Faculty Council Steering Committee, the Academic Strategy Task Force, and the Capstone Task Force. He also co-led the Culture Project and contributed to numerous committees on Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, Data Privacy, and US Rhodes and Truman nominations, among others. Most recently, he served as Vice Provost for Research Policies and Governance, partnering with the Provost, Deans, and Faculty to advance and strengthen NYUAD’s research mission across all fields of inquiry.
