New York University Abu Dhabi (NYUAD) seeks to appoint a Assistant Director of Admissions reporting to the Associate Director of Admissions.
The Assistant Director of Admission plays a vital role in supporting NYU Abu Dhabi’s enrollment goals by identifying, engaging, and enrolling a diverse and talented cohort of undergraduate students. Reporting to the Associate Director of Admission, this position plays a key role in the recruitment of prospective students while maintaining a full suite of admissions responsibilities, including evaluation and selection, on-campus program participation and support, and training and development.
Working within a collaborative and data-informed environment, the Assistant Director will execute targeted outreach, build and develop relationships with school counselors and community-based organizations, and represent NYU Abu Dhabi at recruitment events as well as conferences.
The Assistant Director will also contribute to NYU Abu Dhabi through admissions responsibilities including on-campus program participation and support, evaluating and recommending applicants for admission to NYU Abu Dhabi.
Job Responsibilities:
Recruitment & Outreach:
- Develop and implement strategies to attract and enroll a diverse pool of qualified undergraduate students
- Represent the university at college fairs, high schools, and community events year-round globally and in the UAE as well as host information sessions and events designed for target audiences and support the recruiting efforts of NYU's global partnership with the Institute of International Education
- Build relationships with prospective students, families and counselors to promote the institution’s academic programs and unique offerings
- Support applicants to NYU Abu Dhabi throughout the application process, including after receiving an offer of admission
- Host yield programs/events/outreach to support matriculation of applicants
- Sensitively handle situations with parents, students, or counselors regarding a student who is not offered admission
- Support the overall recruitment strategy and projects
Evaluation & Selection:
- Review and assess undergraduate applications based on contextual review and admissions criteria to identify students who align with NYUAD’s mission and values
- Assist with outreach to incomplete documents and follow-up with non-responders at various points of the application cycle.
On-Campus Programs & Support:
- Participate in organizing and hosting on-campus events such as school visits, workshops, info sessions, and campus tours
- Speak with visitors to the campus about admissions- and university-related topics
- Support NYU Abu Dhabi’s office needs by responding to student inquiries via email, phone, meeting, etc
- Engage in signature on-campus admissions programs and initiatives through the planning, implementation, and execution stages.
Training & Development:
- Participate in various NYUAD admissions-wide training and strategic planning sessions in New York or Abu Dhabi
- Support other offices on campus with events related to the NYUAD campus community
- Support onboarding, training, and ongoing professional development initiatives within the Office of Undergraduate Admissions
Required Education
- Bachelor's Degree in liberal arts or a field related to education/counseling
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel internationally
Required Experience
- 2+ years of experience in university admissions to US liberal arts style program, experience with secondary education, university advising, or international education
- Experience with secondary education, university advising, or international education
- Experience working with diverse student populations
- Supervisory or mentoring experience in a professional setting
- Strong organizational, analytical, and project management skills
- Excellent English communication (verbal and written) and presentation skills
- Interpersonal skills with diverse audiences in terms of nationality and cultural context
- Ability to handle difficult conversations diplomatically and respectfully and represent NYUAD institutional values
- Technological fluency with CRM systems (e.g., Slate), data tools, and standard office software
Preferred Education
- Master's Degree and/or Bachelor’s degree from selective university and coursework or degree related to education, communication, international relations, counseling or a related field
- Excellent Arabic communication (verbal and written) and presentation skills
Preferred Experience
- 2+ years experience with NYU Abu Dhabi admissions office
- 2+ years personal or work experience relating to international secondary education systems
- Proficiency in Slate and/or experience with data visualization tools
- Understanding of financial aid and its impact on recruitment and enrollment
