Research Areas: material chemistry, nanomedicine, computational modeling, drug delivery

Seoyoung (Sharon) Lee is an NYUAD alumna with a BSc in Chemistry and now works as a Research Assistant in the Trabolsi Group. Her primary research focus lies in material chemistry, specifically with pharmaceutical applications. Current projects include computationally modeling the oral delivery of insulin using covalent magnetic framework (COF) nanosheets in collaboration with the Kirmizialtin lab and developing a new synthetic method for magnetic COFs with potential drug or environmental applications.

Her capstone project explored the development of ladanein-coated iron oxide nanoparticles as a specific antiviral against coronaviruses to address the limitations of using broad-spectrum antivirals. The project was awarded the Regional Winner and Highly Commended titles by “The Global Undergraduate Awards 2022” and a Poster Award at the “ACS Research Conference: Chemistry and Chemical Engineering in MENA 2022”.

She will pursue a PhD in Pharmaceutical & Translational Sciences next year to become a pharmaceutical researcher.

Research

I am currently working on computationally modeling the oral delivery of insulin using covalent magnetic framework (COF) nanosheets in collaboration with the Kirmizialtin lab and developing a new synthetic method for magnetic COFs with potential drug or environmental applications.
