Research Areas: Deep learning; AutoML; computer vision; quantum computing

Lotfi Mecharbat obtained his Master's degree in Computer Science from the Higher National School for Computer Science in 2022, with thesis research on optimizing neural networks for edge devices. Following his graduation, he spent a year as a research engineer with Professor Smail Niar at LAMIH, France, where he worked at the intersection of neural architecture search, Edge AI, and computer vision. During this period, Mecharbat successfully led a collaborative project with Alstom, developing a sensor-based system using onboard cameras to detect and diagnose anomalies in railway equipment.

Mecharbat has been recognized in research competitions, including AutoML 2022. Currently, he is a research assistant at the Center for Quantum and Topological Systems at NYU Abu Dhabi under the supervision of Professor Tuka Elhanai, working on the intersection of deep learning and quantum physics.
