Christopher Hanson

Postdoctoral Associate Affiliation: NYU Abu Dhabi
Education: BSc with Hon. Monash University. PhD Monash University

Research Areas: Helioseismology; Computational Methods; Solar Physics

Chris Hanson's research focuses on modeling the behavior of acoustic waves in the interior of the sun. Through proper modeling, inferences can be made from observed surface wave field about the hidden interior structure. Such structures include convection and magnetic active regions.

Chris previously worked with the Max Planck Institute for Solar System Research in Göttingen as a postdoctoral researcher. He obtained his PhD in 2014 at Monash University in Melbourne Australia with his thesis 'Solar Oscillations in Magnetic Regions'. Prior to this, he did his Bachelors degree in physics and astrophysics and his Honours degree in Astrophysics at Monash University.
