Dr. Padmaja Krishnan is a Research Associate in the Advanced Materials and Building Efficiency Research Laboratory (AMBER Lab) at the Department of Civil Engineering at New York University, Abu Dhabi. Prior to joining the AMBER lab, she was a Research Fellow in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the National University of Singapore. Padmaja worked on a joint academia-industry project on prefabricated pre-finished volumetric construction (PPVC). She received her PhD and MS (Structural Engineering) degrees from the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, the National University of Singapore in 2015 and 2011, respectively. Her doctoral research focused on the development of multi-functional building materials for the mitigation of ambient atmospheric pollutants. This work received the original and outstanding paper award from the Japan Concrete Institute at the conference of Our World in Concrete and Structures (JCI-OWICS) 2013 and the Best Paper award at the Fourth International Conference on Countermeasure to Urban Heat Island (4th IC2UHI) 2016. Her research interests include sustainable, energy-efficient, durable, high-performance, and lightweight concrete and building materials.
