Filippo Macchi

Postdoctoral Associate Affiliation: NYU Abu Dhabi
Education: BA in Biotechnology at University of Insubria (Italy); MSc in Biology Applied to Biomedical Research at University of Insubria (Italy); PhD in Experimental and Translational Medicine at University of Insubria (Italy)

Research Websites: Sadler Edepli Lab

Research Areas: Epigenetics; Cancer; Regeneration; UHRF1 and DNA Methylation

Filippo obtained his BA in Biotechnology and then he continued his studies obtaining a Master in Biology Applied to Biomedical Research. During his Master he identified and characterized a novel long non-coding RNA regulating the E-cadherin expression.

He obtained his PhD in Experimental and Translational Medicine at University of Insubria, by studying the correlation between UHRF1 and DNA methylation in colorectal tumors by next-generation approaches.

Research

Filippo’s main interests are focused on understanding how UHRF1 contributes to tumorigenesis and how it acts as oncogene in liver. By using zebrafish as model organism, he couples imaging approaches with transcriptome and epigenome analysis to decipher the impact of epigenetic changes on early step tumorigenesis.
