Student Short Films from Plastic Fantastic Course

Students put on their creative and critical thinking caps during the Plastic Fantastic course.

Taught by NYU Abu Dhabi Lecturer of Engineering Design Khulood Alawadi, the Plastic Fantastic course looks critically at plastic’s ubiquity in global consumer cultures. Students engage with a range of topics, from the environmental politics of plastic debris in oceans, to the ethics and values of plastic surgery, to the proliferation of cheap plastic toys and fashion trends.

One of the assignments includes addressing issues on climate change by creating a short film about plastic. Below are some student film highlights from the class.
