NYU Abu Dhabi has welcomed 45 new faculty and academic leaders coming from some of the world's most ambitious academic and professional institutions to continue their scholarship in the UAE and impart their knowledge on our students.

The new hires include Arlie Petters who will serve as the University’s provost. Prior to joining NYU Abu Dhabi, Petters was a Benjamin Powell Distinguished Professor of Mathematics at Duke University, and former dean of Academic Affairs for Trinity College of Arts and Sciences.

Carol Genetti has been onboarded as the vice provost for the Graduate and Postdoctoral Program and professor of linguistics. Previously she was the dean of the Graduate Division at the University of California, Santa Barbara and held the Anne and Michael Towbes Graduate Dean Chair.

The new faculty come to NYUAD focusing on a range of fascinating subjects in almost every academic discipline. The new members of the community are coming from 12 different countries having held positions in some of the top institutions around the world.

Ranging in topics from developing tests of Einstein’s general relativity and modified gravity models to women’s work in the ready-made, Bangladeshi garment industry, the scholars have come to NYUAD to teach and research a wide array of subjects.
