In coordination with NYU leadership, local health authorities, and our Abu Dhabi partner, NYU Abu Dhabi continues to monitor and respond to coronavirus-related developments. As of this date, there are no cases of coronavirus at any NYU sites, including NYU Abu Dhabi.
On Tuesday, March 3 the UAE Ministry of Education announced a four-week closure for schools and universities starting Sunday, March 8, to safeguard community health and wellbeing and to minimize the spread of the coronavirus (COVID-19).
In order to ensure the academic progress of our students, for the four-week period, NYU Abu Dhabi will be moving courses, advising, and assessment online using the Learning Management System, NYU Classes, which will allow faculty to recreate learning environments online. The state-of-the-art digital tools enable students and faculty to engage through virtual lectures, discussions, and interactive classes. Students will not relocate during the four-week period, but in-person classes and other campus-based, congregate activities will not be held during that time.
This digital and remote working model will take into account the unique features of NYUAD’s globally diverse campus and its culture of liberal arts learning and active research. We are confident these steps will fully and appropriately maintain our students' academic progress, and look forward to restarting in-person classes and other activities following this period.
