NYU Abu Dhabi Celebrates UAE Flag Day

New York University Abu Dhabi (NYUAD) celebrated today (Thursday) the national annual occasion of Flag Day through a ceremony held in the central plaza of the University.

Proceedings were initiated through a speech by NYUAD Vice Chancellor Al Bloom on the continued significance of the celebration that commemorates the accession of His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan as President of the nation.

“Today we raise the UAE Flag in deepest respect for this nation’s leadership, in deepest gratitude to a nation that offers us all such a farsighted and fulfilling home, and in deepest appreciation to our Emirati students, faculty, and staff who contribute so centrally to the warmth, energy, talent, humanity, and success of our University.” said NYU Abu Dhabi Vice Chancellor Al Bloom.

Following the speech, the flag was raised to the sound of the UAE’s national anthem as students, faculty, and staff at NYUAD observed the occasion that continues to reflect Emirati values of unity and tolerance today.
