Seven Members of Parliament (MPs) from the United Kingdom visited the NYU Abu Dhabi campus on Monday and spent time with University leadership and students.
The visit to the UAE is officially sponsored by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The delegation included Charlotte Leslie, MP; David Morris, MP; Flick Drummond, MP; Paul Scully, MP; the Rt Hon Stephen Timms, MP; The Lord Wood of Anfield; and Tasmina Ahmed-Sheikh, MP.
While at NYUAD, the MPs toured the campus, including visits to the library, Marketplace and Engineering Design Studio, and had a conversation with a number of students from the UAE and the UK.
NYUAD Visiting Assistant Professor of Practice Thomas Fletcher said: “We were delighted to have the UK delegation on campus, seeing the way in which NYU Abu Dhabi is supporting tomorrow's global leaders, and meeting a cross section of our diverse student body. We are excited to showcase how NYU Abu Dhabi continues to provide an exciting example of a 21st century university.”
NYUAD was developed in partnership with the UAE government and opened in 2010. It is the first comprehensive liberal arts and science campus in the region operated by a major U.S. research university. Today, there are around 880 undergraduates from 110 countries speaking more than 100 languages.
