NYU Abu Dhabi and the Arts Center at NYU Abu Dhabi collaborated on an interactive theater project called the Cartography Residency that allowed the audience to use their phones to participate in the performance.
International artists Kaneza Schaal and Christopher Myers spent two weeks on campus working with three NYUAD alumni on core technology for the piece, which included a digital storm that responds to people’s voices and an app for the audience to participate. Their work-in-progress was presented to Abu Dhabi high school students in the Red Theater.
The alumni were part of NYUAD’s Post-Graduation Practical Training Program, a career-building opportunity for recent graduates.
